The quality of the water in our pipelines leaves much to be desired. It includes many unnecessary trace elements and microorganisms, scale, particles of rust, chemical cleaning additives and so on. Therefore, if you decide to install a pool in the country, then you definitely need to think about water treatment systems - special filters.
The main function of any filter is to purify water from impurities that pollute it. Thanks to them, the water becomes cloudy, blooms, gives off an unpleasant odor, and can even become dangerous to humans. Therefore, the use of such a device in swimming facilities is very important.
A variety of filters for pools
Today we will consider the filters for pools that are now known, their characteristics as they are effective, possible advantages or disadvantages of equipment, as well as the correctness of their installation and use.
According to experts and users, this is the least efficient unit among those offered on the modern market, but at the same time they are affordable, so anyone can buy them. Such filters for cleaning pools are large tanks filled with sand. Passing through the sand, the water is purified. At the same time, dirt and debris, which has no place in your pool, settles inside the sand pad.
Such systems are considered quite effective in private use. They filter the water entering the pool, but, unfortunately, they do not trap foreign particles, the size of which is about 20-25 microns.
The disadvantage is the service, which takes a lot of time. You will have to clean the device with reverse flow, but this leads to a large consumption of water.
Such devices work in a system with a special filler, a diatomaceous earth mixture, which is made from a huge number of microscopic particles of fossil plankton. Inside the filter are several special cartridges coated with this composition. They cope quite well with the issue of cleaning water for the pool from foreign impurities.
Diatom cleaners are considered the most expensive, but they work very efficiently. Statistics show that they purify water much better than other filters, because without any problems they retain particles of sizes 3-4 microns.
Maintenance cleaner is as follows. It must be opened, the grates removed and the filter carefully removed from the spent diatom mixture. But, since the latter is a hazardous waste, you also need to know how to dispose of it. For security reasons, we recommend using the services of specialists.
Apparently, the most popular option for our customer, as well as the most affordable option. Such cleaners are cheaper than diatoms, but slightly more expensive than sand ones, they do an excellent job cleaning the contents of swimming and are much easier to maintain than the previous two options.
Cartridge cleaners are very simple. Inside them, special plates made of polyester are installed. They retain particles of 5-10 microns in size, which is considered a very good result. To clean the filter itself, you just need to open it, remove the cartridges, and rinse them under a stream of clean water.
Sometimes it is necessary to carry out additional cleaning using specially designed solutions. If the cartridge has worn out and has become unsuitable for subsequent operation, simply replace it with a new one.
Installing a pool filter
Such a procedure should occur with the endurance of certain requirements. It can be an immersion, mounted or some other filter, but the main criteria for installation should be high-quality water treatment afterwards.
Be sure to pay attention to the fact that the circulation of water that is being treated is very important in the pool. In case of poor-quality installation, the formation of “dead zones” is possible, from where liquid intake will not occur. In such areas, it stagnates and deteriorates, infecting purified water around. That is, it turns out that the cleaning was in vain - you lost time and increased your expenses, and the pool filter worked out part of its resource without any benefit.
A properly installed filter draws water from the surface of the pool, since it is here that microorganisms most often accumulate. Inlet of liquid back into the swimming tank can occur in any convenient place. Pay due attention to the access to the filter - it should not be blocked by other pool maintenance systems and be as simple as possible.
We, in turn, recommend leaving the installation of pool filters to professionals. They have the necessary qualifications for this and will be able to perform work quickly and efficiently.
DIY pool filter
By and large, we don’t see much point in explaining in detail the process of creating a makeshift filter for the pool, since it is impossible to produce it from completely improvised means. For this, in any case, you will need some details and mechanisms. For this reason, we will tell you only the principle of action of the cleaner, which you can create yourself.
First of all, determine the volume of water for cleaning and the speed of cleaning. The power of the unit and its volumetric part will depend on these parameters. Next, you should prepare the tank for the production of a purifier, equip it with the necessary mechanism for supplying and pumping out water, as well as the filter itself, which will stop water pollution. Most often, quartz sand is used for this purpose for pool filters, since ordinary sand is not suitable for these purposes.

Equipping such a system, you must make sure that it works correctly: under high pressure, the liquid must enter the inside of the filter, pass through the filter layer and enter the pool.
Here is an example list of what you will need to create the simplest cleaner yourself: a canister or barrel of up to 70 liters with a wide top inlet, a polypropylene pipe for water inlet and outlet, PVC corners and tees to equip the system, 5-6 valves for installation and adapter couplings for water supply system. In addition, a pool filter pump or other mechanisms for the system that will increase its performance can be used. We recommend that you learn how to make a pool vacuum cleaner.
