Industrial greenhouse design: where to start

A considerable number of successful summer residents who have experience working with greenhouses dream of industrial scale in order to be able to grow a variety of greenhouse crops, not only for their own consumption, but also for profit. Undoubtedly, one, two or even three small greenhouses will not be enough for this; here it is necessary to build an industrial structure that will have the necessary resources and equipment, and also be able to grow a large number of plants on its territory.

That's right, an industrial greenhouse is not a standard building with several beds and a simple irrigation system, it is a real complex that combines great opportunities. And to provide such opportunities, knowledge, considerable experience and financial capital are necessary.

The construction of an industrial greenhouse construction includes a whole range of work that must be performed at a professional level. Unfortunately, fans of this event are not at all capable of it, and we strongly advise against cultivating crops on an industrial scale if you are not ready for this. But, if you feel an irresistible desire in yourself, a large amount of strength, iron nerves, and have the time and ability, then you can move on to the organization of production and business.

Where to begin

First of all, only theory. Communicate with professionals, attend courses, read useful articles on the network and communicate on forums, that is, earn knowledge and form a base from them. Further, we can proceed to the gradual organization of activities. If you own several greenhouses, it will be a little easier. Beginners, in addition to studying the theory, should try their hand at land work, study the agricultural technology of plants, and practice for several years in growing a variety of crops.

So, having gained a certain amount of knowledge, go to the main thing.

Greenhouse selection

You must determine for yourself which industrial greenhouse you want to build and put into operation. It can be a seasonal greenhouse for growing plants in the warm season, or year-round, which can provide you and your customers with a stable crop all the time.

It is worth thinking very seriously, because all the knowledge gained in the garden and at the summer cottage site is practically not related to the industrial production of greenhouse crops. Everything will have to be done and taught in a new way. A simple example can even be the construction of a greenhouse, the choice of foundation and frame. Think about the fact that now you need not 20 m², but 500, 600, or maybe even several thousand square meters, and here the calculations are completely different.

Having determined the type of greenhouse construction, it is necessary to proceed to the calculation of its capacity. It does not place a professional project and consultation with a qualified and successful farmer who can tell you exactly what to count on.

By choosing the type of greenhouse, and determining its size, you can only assume approximate costs and future profits.

Preliminary figures will help more or less correctly form a budget. Next, you should determine only one thing: is it suitable for you, maybe it is worth decreasing your appetites or, conversely, increasing future workloads.

Location

An important factor is the location of the greenhouse, the region of activity, the definition under the first two points of the cultures that will grow here. Be sure to calculate everything to the smallest. There should be water nearby, the terrain should not differ in cold winters, the structure should be in a lowland so that it would not be purged by cold winds, but at the same time that the groundwater level did not rise very high.

It is required to choose a region with fertile soil, otherwise you will increase your expenses. It is clear that there will be a substrate and a huge amount of fertilizers in the greenhouse, but the basis is still fertile land, which will have to be imported from somewhere.

The minimum number of requirements for the location of an object on the ground that we have presented is only a short list, which should be carefully worked out. But prepare yourself for the fact that in the near future there will be much more conditions that you will need to create.

Planning

It’s good when you have a certain piece of land that is great for building an industrial greenhouse, but that’s not all. Now you need, based on the budget, to determine the materials - the foundation, frame, cover, and so on.

Such planning, and in the future, and the design itself, is practically impossible to carry out independently. Here it is necessary to take into account many factors that a person may not know about without a proper education.

Therefore, this is another step that you have to climb, opening a wider wallet. Why is that? Yes, everything is simple, these projects are decent and it is often impossible to find an inexpensive cost, since each region of activity monopolizes such activities.

You can also buy a ready-made greenhouse project, but in this case you have to be extremely careful, since you will need to accurately compare its capabilities with your own requirements.

Building

When the project is completed by specialists, or simply purchased from a company, there is only one thing left - to start construction. Everything is standard here - engineers, foremen, workers, equipment, permits, registrations, and so on.

To the above, you can safely add some unforeseen expenses, loss of terms and many more not very pleasant moments that always arise.

The construction itself should take place under the clear guidance of a person who knows how to read the project and hand out tasks meaningfully. If good specialists work with him in a team, then there may not even be an overspending of funds and deadlines, but get ready for something else - purchase of materials and equipment is ahead.

Since the installation of the necessary equipment and communications inside the structure takes place throughout the construction, it is better to buy everything right away. It will not be very interesting to forget some trifle, and then tear down the frame for it or dig trenches inside the greenhouse again.

The correct foundation pit, pouring the foundation, installing the supporting frame, laying pipes, drains, installing the cover, lighting and other necessary systems, modules and devices will take a long time, but each new day will bring you closer to the realization of a dream !!!

We specifically missed some points, as we already spoke about them. Of course, there should be a lot of things in the greenhouse - automatic ventilation and ventilation, industrial heating of greenhouses and fully automated irrigation, sewage and drainage processing systems, as well as special mechanisms for fertilizer delivery and crop removal ... All this, as well as the choice of foundation , the installation of the frame and coverings, you can read in other materials of our site.

You can also study the publication, which describes in detail the characteristics and advantages of greenhouse structures made of polycarbonate. This is the most practical and reliable, for today, material for the production of greenhouses. That is why pay attention to industrial polycarbonate greenhouses. They may be a little more expensive than buildings covered with glass or film, but this is the type of greenhouse that will last you many years without condemning you to frequent problems.

You can skip all the above and go to the advertised companies that sell turnkey industrial greenhouses, projects, equipment and so on, hire specialists and wait for the harvest and profit. But this is hardly a good idea, because without their own knowledge and constant control, not a single business will be able to fully live, especially a business of this kind.
