Buddley: planting, growing and care

Today it is very difficult to find a summer cottage in which there are no flowers or luxurious shrubs. Although this is even the most dilapidated and abandoned summer cottage, the former owner, in any case, grew something in its farthest corners. Often found in cottages, abandoned or groomed, and waking, the plant is quite interesting and pretty, and therefore it is very pleasant to observe this shrub in any territory, wherever it grows.

Disputes have always generated truth, but for some reason this did not happen with the wake of this. Many researchers and breeders have recognized that the birthplace of the bush is England, but it remains the opinion that for the first time a wake-up was discovered and domesticated in subtropical latitudes. In principle, the history of the plant is not so important as the fact that it now has the opportunity to decorate our land. Today, in the world there are more than 100 wanderings, they feel good in South America, Africa and Asia, but some varieties have taken root in Europe, despite the cold climate of some countries. This happened only thanks to people who love plants and are ready to care for them at any time of the year.

The location of the awakening in the garden

Budleya is a thermophilic plant, which means that it should be placed in a sunny and open place in a garden. Try to choose a place that is well protected from cold winds and drafts, preferably with buildings or high hedges nearby.

Budleya - landing and care

Soil and fertilizing

Budleya is undemanding to the soil factor, however, if there is an opportunity to choose, then Budleya is better to plant in light, fertile and well-moistened soil. The shrub responds positively to fertilizing the soil. The first of them should occur during the growing season, fertilizer, for the most part, preferably nitrogen, will well affect the growth of the bush and its recovery after the cold, winter period. Experts recommend carrying out the following dressing closer to mid-summer. Potassium and phosphorus should predominate in the fertilizer - top dressing, contributing to the ripening of shoots of buddha and beautiful, intense flowering. At the same time, organic fertilizers can be added to the soil - this can be compost or a well-rotten humus. Periodic introduction of ash into the soil in small quantities will not be superfluous. Proper and timely soil fertilization will enable the shrub to grow quickly and bloom profuselyif fertilizers are not applied, the plant, of course, will not disappear, but it will look weak, painful and may not even bloom in season.

Blooming buddha

If the plant is planted correctly and better care is provided later, then flowering occurs closer to the end of the summer period. Sometimes, this can happen in early autumn, it all depends on the region and the local climate. Beautiful and lush flowering of the bush lasts no more than one and a half months. At this point, you should constantly monitor faded panicles, which, drying out and changing color, can significantly reduce the decorative bush. Such inflorescences need to be cut in time with a garden tool, and not broken, so as not to harm the plant.

Cultivation and reproduction

Usually, awake is grown from cuttings or seeds. Their landing occurs at a very early period of the year, possibly even in February. The first stage of growing, of course, at home. This is done in order for the plant to get a little stronger for the next cold weather. Seedlings, which have grown, are dived into separate jars or glasses, gradually hardened and transferred to a special school. This must be done at the moment when the earth is finally warmed up, that is, in May or June. Seeds that were sown early enough can produce shoots up to 50-70 cm tall during the summer and even bloom by fall. After the onset of the first cold weather, the plant begins to freeze, the color falls off, the leaves darken and the buddy prepares for wintering. It is recommended to transfer one-year-olds into pots or special containers and store in a cool room with a temperature of about 12 degrees Celsius, or even better in a dark basement. Wintering in a warm room, such as an apartment’s room, can lead to illness or pest damage.

Around April, from buds that were successfully wintered, cuttings are cut, which are planted in hotbeds, and the plants themselves are planted in heated soil, in April-May. This method of preservation makes it possible to keep the mother bush intact and in good condition, and get good planting material.

Comprehensive Care

Grown wake-ups for the winter period are left in the ground, but they are properly looked after before, so that the plant can gain strength and get stronger before the upcoming cold weather. Watering wakes up in moderation, only in dry weather. It is desirable to mulch the soil and top dressing with special fertilizers. After the plants begin to bloom, top dressing should be stopped.

All the qualities and aesthetic characteristics of a buddy can be crossed out by only one drawback - the reduced frost resistance of the plant. When the air temperature in the street reaches - 20 degrees Celsius, the plant freezes severelyif the temperature continues to fall, the wake-up may completely freeze, right up to the very base of the bush. But interestingly, in the spring, the bush is restored and blooms very well on new shoots. But the plant is aging a little and with age it suffers worse frosts and, unfortunately, even with the best care, after 5-6 years of life, the plant disappears.

To prolong the life of the wake-up season and reduce the stressful effects of low temperatures, professional summer residents advise to organize special shelters for the shrub that will protect the wake-room from the cold. Many gardeners greatly simplify the warming of plants, spud it and sprinkle stems that were previously cut to a length of 10 cm, peat or humus. But this method can lead the plant to complete soaking if the winter is very wet. A dry and well-ventilated shelter for waking up will be much more correct and effective. It should consist of a special frame, which can be made of metal or wood. The frame is covered with shelter material - spanbond, lutrasil, and a waterproof layer, for example, ordinary polyethylene. The lower part of the covering layer is pressed to the ground with pieces of metal, bricks or stones, and dry leaves are packed inside to create a warmer layer.

The above-described method of warming the wake-up season will help her winter and practically not suffer from a frosty winter, as well as get stronger faster in warm time and acquire a fresh, healthy look.
