Among other things, they can be planted with other spring flowers - Adonis spring, primroses, crocuses - near the tracks. You can simply plant several varieties of lumbago or try to assemble a whole group, but in this case it is strictly forbidden to take plants from natural habitats - they will not transfer the transplant.
How to plant and grow lumbago
The best places for growing the plant are a flower bed with low perennials, an alpine hill, a rockery. Backache are afraid of damp! A great option for planting is a place with a slight shading, but in open areas the backache also feels good. Try to arrange the flower in the southern part of the garden. It is great if a small slope is present at the chosen place, which will not allow the water to stagnate. Since the seeds are sensitive to light, the placement for them is suitable only shallow.
From top dressing it is worth using nitrogen and lime. And potassium-phosphorus fertilizers are applied only a couple of times per season. But even without fertilizers, and on poor soil there is a chance to grow lumbago from seeds.
The following requirements are made to the soil: it must be processed, fertilizers applied in the autumn period, before planting seeds, it is necessary to carry out soil cultivation.
Standard care: weeding, watering as needed, mulching with peat and humus. The plant tolerates winter well, frost-resistant.
Since an adult plant does not relate well to transplants, there remains only one type of reproduction that can be used - seeds. Among other things, you can buy a ready-made backache in a pot.
There are misconceptions regarding the propagation of lumbago seeds. Some people think that in this case they will bloom only in the 5th year. But, as practice shows, flowering begins in the second year of life.
Of course, if you give preference to high-mountain varieties, they really will bloom only after many years. But if you plant an ordinary backache, there will be no problems.
It is best to use fresh seeds. In this case, germination will be much higher. Landing is recommended in June or July. It is possible in the spring, then the soil should already be heated. Optimum conditions for growth - temperature from 21 to 25 degrees.
A number of varieties are sown in the fall, as they need stratification. At the same time, you will receive crops only in May. In spring, you can try to plant lumbago on the windowsill, and then transplanted into the ground in the summer. But the plant does not tolerate the transplant! This fact should be taken into account. If you decide to plant several varieties of lumbago together, there is a chance to get interesting combinations of forms that can be very far from the parent.
Use in landscape design
In landscape design, the cross, the cultivation of which is a rather difficult task, is used in gravel gardens, among alpine plants, on rocky hills. You can plant the plant in mixborders. At the same time, its neighbors should be well disposed to neutral and dry soil.
Lumbago also looks great in landscape gardens, both in single and in group plantings.
There are a huge number of varieties and types of lumbago. The plant is quite whimsical to the soils and the level of illumination, but, nevertheless, perfectly takes root in the suburban areas. Reproduction is carried out only by seeds! Transplantation is strictly prohibited! Low perennials, shrubs, and trees will be excellent neighbors for lumbago.
